Espact signs MOU to support Arbitration Institutions in Universities

Posted on : November 5 2021

We had written previously about Judge Hamid Sultan’s idea of making arbitration more widely accessible by establishing arbitration institutions in universities. You can read about the concept here.

As a follow-up and support for the concept, Espact signed a memorandum of understanding with the AFFORDABLE ARBITRATION AND ADR CHAMBERS  on 5 November 2021. The signing was at the new chambers located at MAHSA  University in Jalan Professor Diraja Ungku Aziz.

Datuk Dr Haji Hamid Sultan bin Abu Backer (former judge of the Court of Appeal) signed for the chambers. Prof. Zaharom Nain, Prof Teh Yik Koon, Prof Wan Manan, Ms Lee Yin Su and Mr U K Menon all signed on behalf of Espact.

Under the MOU, Espact agreed to assist in promoting the University-cum-Court Annexed Arbitration to educational institutions and participants in the education sector and for academics to act as an Arbitrator, Mediator or Case Manager and help at the same time to create a workable model of the concept in Malaysia and other countries.
