Dr Zainun Ishak holds a doctorate (Ph.D  Management - UniRazak), Master of Science - Health, Physical Education & Recreation (USA), Bachelor of Science - Physical Education (USA), Specialist Teaching Certificate in Physical Education (MPIK), TESL Certificate (Universiti Malaya), Teaching Certificate (Maktab Perguruan Perempuan Melayu Melaka).

A former Associate Professor at Faculty of Education, Universiti Malaya, former lecturer at Specialist Teachers Training Institute, and former teacher at Primary and Secondary schools. Also a former part-time lecturer at UPSI, Unisel, KPAKK. Now a part-time lecturer at Universiti Malaya and at Kopeda. Author of several books on Physical Education, Health and Physical exercise, Early Childhood Education, and Biography books.

Zainun has the expertise in the teaching and learning of Physical Education, Health Education and Physical Skills of young children. She is also a pioneer in Rhythmic Sports Gymnastics (RSG) and a qualified judge of RSG (1993 – 2001).  She has been elected by the Malaysian Gymnastics Federation (MGF) to judge for numerous competitions at both national and international levels, such as at SEA Games (Thailand) – 1995, COUPE d’ OPALE (France) – 1996, RSG Malaysian Open Championship (Kuala Lumpur) – 1997, 4th SEAGON Junior Gymnastics Championship (Kuala Lumpur) – 1997, PZIX JUZIETA CHICHMANOVA (Bulgaria) – 1998, Pre Commonwealth Games (Kuala Lumpur) – 1998, and XVI Commonwealth Games (Kuala Lumpur) – 1998.

Besides her involvement in judging, Zainun has been appointed as Directorate of Sports Science for MGF since 1996. She has done her duty dedicatedly as a researcher on Gymnasts for the Federation. She is also much involved in Early Childhood Education. As such, she has been selected as a curriculum panel in early childhood education for KEMAS, KOPEDA, and as a coach and guest speaker for Movement in education for Pre School teachers of KEMAS, Department of  National Unity as well as for secondary teachers all over the country. She has also represented Teachers Training College to run courses in Early Childhood Education.

She has carried out some research regarding women and sports, health and physical activities of young children where she presented her research findings at national and international conferences. She has also written several academic books and has contributed several articles afor journal in education.
